Description
Each year the Research School of Earth Sciences (‘the School’) may offer two awards known as the Scholarship in Regolith Science (‘the Award’).
The objective of the Award is to support regolith-related research, especially important for Australian environments.
Funding for this Award has been provided through an endowment established in 2008 by the Cooperative Research Centre for Landscape Environments and Mineral Exploration – a joint – venture including the Australian National University (‘ANU’).
Benefits
The scholarship provides a stipend of $5,000 with an additional amount of funding of up to $5,000 available for research project funding.
Eligibility
The Award is available each year to a commencing or continuing ANU student who:
- is a domestic or international student; and
- is enrolled or will enrol in one of the following programs:
- Bachelor of Science (Honours),
- Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours),
- Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours),
- Master of Earth Sciences (Advanced); and
- is undertaking a research project that is consistent with the broad field of regolith science. Projects can include laboratory and/or field and/or modelling studies.
Selection basis:
- Selection is made on the basis of academic merit. Where there are more equally ranked applicants than there are Awards available, a personal interview may be required.
