Overview

Dalhousie University 's Master of Marine Management programme is a professional, non-thesis and interdisciplinary degree program offering required classes in the marine and social sciences as well as a choice of electives from approved marine-related classes. The subject areas addressed include coastal zone management, sea use planning, fisheries management, marine law and policy, maritime transport, development of non-living resources, protection and preservation of the coastal and marine environment, coastal tourism, maritime enforcement, and conflict management. Students are also required to prepare a graduate research project with an emphasis on planning. 

This programme attracts strong interest from students with a strong academic record who are planning a career in marine affairs, managers employed in the public and private sectors with responsibilities in marine affairs, individuals aspiring to commence or strengthen their academic or teaching careers, and community organizers wishing to further their understanding of marine affairs to benefit their communities.

Programme options

• Project: You will complete and present a research paper as part of your programme requirements. 

• Internship: You will have the opportunity to participate in an internship lasting a minimum of 4 weeks during the summer semester.
