Overview

This Practice Educator programme at The University of Hull offers a blended approach towards study, with your time spent either learning online or in our award-winning health facilities on campus.

Learning methods include workshops, discussions, group work and lead lectures – enabling you to play an active part in your learning. Plus, you’ll be further supported by our virtual learning environment.

Our core modules will give you a solid foundation in all aspects of the role including practice; establishing effective working relationships; evidence-based practice; leadership; creating an environment for learning; facilitation of learning; assessment and accountability and evaluation of learning.

Students on this course will usually have prior experience as a mentor or assessor, as well as evidence of academic study within the past five years. However, all applications will be considered on individual merit.

Future prospects

As you’ll already have an established career prior to embarking on this course, this Postgraduate Certificate focuses on developing your knowledge and skills in research and leadership as well as education, opening up career pathways in a variety of healthcare environments, training departments and education institutions.

You’ll improve skills in the likes of leadership, communication, assessment and mentoring, which are highly transferable and coveted by employers. And you’ll have the option to continue your studies and further enhance your prospects by completing additional modules to Postgraduate Diploma or Masters level.
