From career counseling to contract negotiations, the MER program will help you effectively manage relationships in your organization. This part-time multi-disciplinary program provides advanced-level study of all aspects of the employment relationship.

The master program in Employment Relations, offered by the Memorial University of Newfoundland, allows students to become specialists in the area of Employment Relations. Our MER graduates go on to careers in recruitment and selection, human resource managers roles, health and safety and labour relations advisor roles to name a few.

Our multi-disciplinary program provides advanced-level study of all aspects of the employment relationship as well as offers insight into the history and sociology of work cultures.

Programme Structure

Memorial’s MER program is offered by full-time or part-time study and involves 36 credit hours of coursework. Most courses accommodate part-time student schedules, in that many start after 4:00 pm. Full-time students normally complete the program in one academic year.

If a student has completed a required course prior to entering the MER program, they may be approved to complete a substitution for that course. In general, exemptions for courses completed prior to enrolling in the MER program will not be granted.
