Overview
History examines why the spatial environment looks and works in particular ways; heritage explores the value and meaning created around space in the present by diverse communities and understands creative approaches to the uses of the past. Thus, during this programme you will develop a multi-disciplinary analytical approach through the lenses of history and heritage.
The Architecture, Cities, Landscapes - History and Heritage programme from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam focuses on ongoing societal challenges as a point of departure, like climate change, diversity in cities, sustainable re-use of abandoned sites, decolonial perspectives, and landscape heritage and sustainability.
Enter the workforce
After completing the MA in Architecture, Cities, and Landscapes, you will be part of a much-needed new generation who find jobs as scholars, policy makers, heritage (conservation) experts, and practitioners, who challenge conventions and are interested in creating an impact through research and practice.
