Overview

Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) from The American University in Cairo offers cutting-edge approaches, methodologies and pedagogical knowledge to advance an English teaching career. Since its inception in 1966, the MA TESOL program has been serving AUC, Egypt, and the Middle East at large through educating qualified language professionals who can competently work in different instructional settings across the world. Historically, we have had a diverse group of students from both native and non-native English-speaking countries. 

The program offers opportunities to observe and engage in language teaching. The program aims to develop leadership skills, create teachers and administrators who are lifelong learners, and encourage student participation in research-based inquiry to advance new knowledge in the discipline.

• Exhibit understanding of and apply current pedagogical theories in language classes.
