Overview

You’ll gain specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of basic molecular, genetic and biological processes associated with cancer; with an emphasis on the advances in pathology, diagnosis and therapy.

This course is taught by researchers who have published extensively in the field of cancer biology and who have close research links with Brain Tumour North West and the Royal Preston Hospital.
On successful completion of the taught modules in semester one, you’ll have the opportunity to transfer to the MRes programme.
You’ll have the opportunity to attend the annual Brain Tumour North West meeting, held in Preston in December each year.

Future careers

Graduates of the Cancer Biology and Therapy programme at The University of Lancashire have gone on to PhD research, working in industry and to further postgraduate study.

A minimum of a lower second class honours degree from a UK university or its equivalent in a biological discipline, for example Biochemistry, Physiology, Biomedical Science OR A qualification or experience deemed to be equivalent to the above
International students should have an English language qualification IELTS at 6.0 with no component score lower than 5.5, TOEFL at 600 (paper) and 250 (CBE) with a TWE of 4
