Can private sustainability initiatives of firms escape competition law control? How should EU law regulate the sharing and platform economy? During this track you will learn to analyse and reflect on these issues. Discover throughout the European Competition Law and Regulation (International and European Law) programme from University of Amsterdam

Key facts

This programme follows a coherent set of strongly interrelated courses. They prepare you for legal service in European and international private practice or corporate entities, as well as in any EU institution and in the public administration of Member States dealing with economic regulation.

This track allows students to specialize in competition law as well as to study the broader regulatory framework applicable to European economic activities in fast-moving and progressively digitalised markets. You can combine the study of broader legal and theoretical perspectives on EU competition law and market regulation with its practical application. The programme offers students also a wide range of extra-curriculum activities.The quality of the programme is enriched by UvA’s close academic partnership with the Amsterdam Centre for Law & Economics (ACLE) and the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance (ACELG).

Bachelor’s degree in law from a research university (Dutch: WO).

A Bachelor’s degree in the law track of PPLE (Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics) from the University of Amsterdam. If you did not complete the law track, then you will need to have obtained at least 45 ECTS of law courses as part of your completed PPLE programme.

A Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences from any University College in the Netherlands, including at least 45 ECTS of law courses as part of this completed programme.

A Bachelor’s degree comparable to a Dutch Bachelor’s degree in European Studies or International Relations, including at least 45 ECTS of law courses as part of this completed programme.

A Bachelor’s degree from a research university (Dutch: WO) in another discipline, provided that at least 60 ECTS of law courses were obtained as part of this completed programme.
