Overview
The Economics master's program from University of Basel is the second degree after the bachelor's degree. The master’s program comprises a total of 90 credit points and aims to specialize in economics. One ECTS credit point corresponds to approximately 30 hours of work. For the master’s degree, you can choose a “course à la carte”, ie without a specialization or one with a specific “major”. The following majors are offered:

- Activities with an entrepreneurial and more business management focus can usually be found in service companies (controlling, marketing, human resources, organization, etc.), in banks and insurance companies, in trade, finance and industry.
- Jobs with macroeconomic and therefore more macroeconomic tasks (economic, social, regional and monetary policy, foreign economic and competition policy, health economics, etc.) are available in research institutes, banks, associations, administration and trade unions, the media and in international organizations.
- In addition, the higher teaching post for business subjects at business high schools, commercial and commercial vocational schools as well as in further education and training can be considered.

- Students with a university degree that corresponds quantitatively and qualitatively to the Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics from the University of Basel are admitted to the master’s program without any conditions. Other university degrees are checked for equivalence and may be permitted with conditions.
