Key Features

Research interests and disciplinary backgrounds of the faculty cover various fields of history and theory of art and architecture. The History of Architecture program from METU Middle East Technical University is affiliated with the Department of Architecture and is offered within the Institute of Social Sciences.

There is no disciplinary limitation for the applicants, but applications from the graduates of architecture and related fields in design, fine arts, humanities and social sciences are especially invited. Applicants from all fields are required to demonstrate their interest in and familiarity with architectural history through transcripts, a portfolio and a letter of intent, as well as satisfactory performance in entrance examinations. Proficiency in English is required of all applicants. Accepted students may be asked to attend a preparatory program.

For graduation, M.A. students are required to take seven courses (one required + 6 elective courses and min. 21 credits) and write a thesis.

General requirements

International Graduate Students' Registration Form: The form is expected to be downloaded by the student and filled, including the student's signature.
ALES / GRE Score Sheet: The score sheets are valid for five years from the exact date they are announced. Students who used to be registered in one of the graduate programs of METU and then either canceled the registration on their own will or were dismissed from the program are not asked to provide a new ALES / GRE score only if they have not been registered to graduate programs of METU for one academic year at max.
