The Curriculum and Instruction - Equity Studies in Education in Education program offered by Simon Fraser University conceptualizes education broadly as a concept that includes schooling, but also includes other social forces that shape knowledge in society.
From this perspective, equity in education refers to the range of interdisciplinary, theoretical perspectives from which the relationships between these forces are studied including: social justice, anti-racism education, globalization, human rights, whiteness studies.

- Diversity and equity officers working in fields such as corrections, health, military, and law enforcement.

- a bachelor’s degree from SFU or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.33 scale, or 3.33 on a 4.33 scale (B+) based on the last 60 credits of undergraduate courses. All graduate work is also considered.
- submitted evidence, usually references from qualified referees, of the applicant’s ability to undertake advanced studies in the area of interest.
