Overview
The Psychology programme from Bilkent University focuses on cognitive, social, personality, and evolutionary psychology, as well as neuroscience. Graduate students are expected to participate in research activities upon entering the program.

The Psychology Department at Bilkent University is committed to furthering our evidence-based understanding of the human mind by employing a cognitive, interdisciplinary approach to psychology. Our faculty pursue two interrelated goals:
- to carry out cutting-edge research that contributes to the knowledge base of the national and international scientific communities
- to provide our undergraduate and graduate students with training that prepares them for postgraduate education, positions as applied psychologists, and academia. Motivated by this strong emphasis on research, we expect our undergraduate and graduate students to conduct and disseminate research through publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
The aim of Bilkent University Psychology Department is to educate and train students to be able to work across the different subareas, both research and applied, in Psychology.
- The curriculum will provide knowledge and experience in order to reach the following educational objectives: Our graduates will obtain employment in various academic and applied environments where they will be able to apply their knowledge about psychological phenomena.
- Our graduates will be able to apply critical and analytical thinking skills they obtained through undergraduate training in their lines of work.
- Our graduates will be effective communicators in their interactions with individuals in their profession (e.g., clients, colleagues).
- Our graduates will have obtained the foundation for life-long learning, which will enable them to continually improve their existing abilities and learn new skills for sustained professional development.

Living costs

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
Funding
Currently, about 90 percent of graduate students receive financial support. Financial assistance is provided in the form of a tuition waiver or a tuition waiver plus a monthly stipend. The amount of the stipend is adjusted annually to cover changes in the cost of living.
