Overview
The Chemistry program at University of Bonn has a strong research focus. Research activities at the Chemistry Department touch different areas of chemistry, ranging from fundamental research (e.g. element-metal multiple bonds, reaction paths) to applied research (e.g. sensors, catalysis).
The Chemistry master’s degree program is primarily directed at students who have already obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. Students who have graduated from a bachelor’s degree program in another field may also be admitted provided they meet all relevant requirements.

Research, product development and quality management; risk assessment and safety management; analysis, development and programming of technological systems and chemical processes; patenting; pharmaceutical industry; oil industry

General requirements
The qualification of the previous bachelor's degree consists of the following features:
- Average grade of at least 2.9 (German grading scale)
- Successfully completed modules in the bachelor's degree program in the field of inorganic and analytical chemistry amounting to at least 25 credits
- Successfully completed modules in the bachelor's degree program in the field of organic chemistry and biochemistry amounting to at least 25 credit points
- successfully completed modules in the bachelor's degree program in the field of physical and theoretical chemistry amounting to at least 25 credits
