Overview
The main goal of this research-oriented international Medical Immunosciences and Infection program at University of Bonn is to train students for future careers in medical research. In terms of its content, the program focuses on the underlying mechanisms and the treatment of immune-mediated, inflammatory, and infectious diseases.
Students acquire specific knowledge in the areas of translational, immunological and infectiological research. Approaches currently followed in immunology and infection research are discussed in literature seminars and students apply them directly to their research projects. Students can set individual points of focus for themselves by the elective modules they choose.
Upon completion of their master’s degree, students are equipped with all the essential skills and abilities needed for independent academic work and a successful research career.
Possible lines of work:
Medical and biomedical basic research (e.g. at Max Planck Institutes), development/production/marketing (industrial sector), molecular diagnostics (for medical, biotechnological, pharmaceutical, environmental, forensic questions; in clinical disciplines (e.g. neurology, dermatology, oncology, pediatrics), academia (teaching/research at universities, research institutions, etc.)

General requirements
- a completed qualifying degree from a German or foreign college or university in the fields of (Molecular) Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Immunology, Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology or in a related field.
- The degree must have been completed with the mark 2.3 ("good", grade B) or better.
- Either Immunology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Anatomy or Physiology with a total of at least 30 CPs, as well as
- Either Chemistry, Genetics, Developmental Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or Microbiology with a total of at least 30 CPs, as well as
- Lab experience in at least one of the fields according to Para. 1 or 2 with a total of at least 20 CPs
