Overview

In Year 1, the Advanced Pharmacy Practice programme from The University of Lancashire will provide you with up-to-date information on clinical pharmacy, evidence-based medicine and public health.

Year 2 is flexible and you’ll be able to choose options to suit your interests. These include modules on: Integrated Care, Acute and Emergency Care, Mental Health, Leadership and Management, as well as a qualification as an Independent Prescriber.

Pathway opportunities

You may consider an alternative research opportunity with us – the MSc (by research) is very similar to a PhD, but with a research project designed to take 12 months. It’s not intended as a first step towards a PhD, but rather as an alternative to a PhD.

Accreditation

This course is accredited by the GPhC, which regulates pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies in Great Britain. You will gain the knowledge and skills required to be a key member of a healthcare team - becoming a pharmacy expert, health advocate, communicator, collaborator, scholar and professional.

General requirements

Applicants should have a Pharmacy degree and be currently registered as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Applicants must be working in or able to access a practice environment that will enable them to meet and achieve the course learning outcomes
Applications will be considered on its merits and in the light of the nature and scope of the programme
IELTS: 7.0 with no component lower than 7.0
On enrolment, students will be encouraged to identify a work-based mentor who will support and guide their development throughout the course
For students taking the Independent Prescribing module must meet all of the above criteria plus be able to satisfy the Course Leader that they have sufficient expertise and competence, must have two years post registration, must be able to nominate an identified Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP), Interview at the discretion of the course leader
