Overview
Introduction
In recent years, the introduction of techniques and technologies related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) has radically revolutionized many productive sectors, pervasively entering into the daily lives of people and industrial processes.
Advanced Artificial intelligence technologies are the basis for voice assistants in smartphones, smart speakers, domestic robots, autonomous driving vehicles, modern industrial robots, the most advanced medical diagnostic systems, and numerous applications in Industry 4.0. In fact, it makes it possible to partially or completely innovate and automate the production and management processes for companies.
This is due to its ability to process, analyze, decide, and establish actions, all in an autonomous way and in real-time, with a significant impact on the competitiveness of the companies.
The two-year Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence Systems at the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Trento aims to train new professional figures at the forefront of the conception, design, and development of techniques, technologies, and intelligent systems, favoring the multidisciplinarity of approaches and applications. It has been developed in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Engineering (DII), the Center for Mind/Brain Sciences (CIMeC), and the Faculty of Law.
Program Overview
The teaching program of the two-year master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence Systems (AIS) , delivered in English, includes courses in the following foundational and related areas of artificial intelligence:
Knowledge representation, automatic reasoning, planning, machine learning, human language processing and technology, human-machine interaction;
Industrial and service robotics, advanced techniques for perception, decision, and execution of robotic actions in complex and unstructured environments, optimization and deployment of AI-based software solution on existing robotic platforms;
Signal acquisition, processing, and interpretation of speech, images and videos, artificial vision and applications;
Cognitive neuroscience, cognitive and brain architectures, and their applications to artificial intelligence models;
Legal and ethical principles, laws and its applications to the design and application of artificial intelligence systems;
Business and economic processes, for the organization, management, and innovation of products and services based on artificial intelligence systems.
The courses provide students with substantial laboratory activities and hands-on experiences, projects, seminars by researchers and industry leaders, and internship opportunities.
The program encourages students to improve their communication skills and autonomous learning is considered essential for a professional profile that needs to cope with continuous research and innovation in artificial intelligence.
