Overview

Linguistics from University of Göttingen focuses on synchronic syntax and phonology. Diachronic issues are, however, also a part of the education you will receive, as is empirical work.

The Master's programme conveys in-depth and reflected knowledge of fundamental descriptive and analytical theories and methods. In addition, students will also acquire the skills needed for independent and interdisciplinary scientific work in issues that are pertinant to all individual languages.

Careers

The programme qualifies graduates for work in the field of linguistic research and for work outside of research institutes that require a scientifically founded approach to languages and language structures (research administration, media, publishing houses, educational institutes, information technology, culture management). In addition, the programme provides the basis for research work during doctoral studies.
