At Dalarna University, you will gain a theoretical and historical understanding of these complex developments by studying concepts such as democracy, state, nation, citizenship and political culture.
Programme Structure
Courses include:
- The first semester consists of four 7.5 credit courses, all of which have themes relating to the concepts of state, nation, citizenship, democracy and political culture. The historical developments surrounding these concepts, including current challenges, form a common theme in these four courses. The second semester consists of a 15 credit course in methods within social science, with a specific focus on political science, which is followed by a 15 credit master’s degree thesis in Political Science.

General requirements
- Completed bachelor’s degree including the equivalant of at least 90 Swedish university credits in Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, Human Rights or Peace and Conflict Studies, and at least 7.5 credits in scientific method within the field of Social Science.
- If you are currently completing the final year of your studies leading to such a degree, then you are welcome to apply.
- An approved statement of purpose.
- Proof of English language proficiency.
