Overview
Students benefit from the wide-ranging, leading expertise available at the Amsterdam Brain and Cognition Center (ABC), the different research labs at the UvA and from the opportunity to participate in research projects led by internationally renowned ABC researchers. The Research Master's programme in Brain and Cognitive Sciences forms a challenging, interdisciplinary and international arena in which highly motivated researchers and students endeavour to understand the brain, its development and its disorders.
The Research Master's programme in Brain and Cognitive Sciences is offered by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS), in close collaboration with the Amsterdam Brain and Cognition Center (ABC).
Career prospects
The Master's programme in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from University of Amsterdam provides its graduates with the necessary theoretical, intellectual and empirical tools to pursue an academic career (PhD programme) in cognitive and neurosciences or in a related discipline. In addition to an academic career, graduates of the Brain and Cognitive Sciences programme also find work in applied research.

General requirements
Depending on the track of choice the applicant must hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent
- Behavioural Neuroscience track: Bachelor's degree in Psychobiology, Biomedical Science, Biology or equivalent
- Cognitive Neuroscience track: Bachelor's degree in Psychobiology, (Cognitive/Biological) Psychology, Cognitive Science or equivalent.
- Cognitive Science track: Bachelor's degree in (Cognitive) Psychology, Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, Philosophy or equivalent
Applicants with another Bachelor's degree may also be admitted to the Research Master provided they have an adequate academic background in the field of neuroscience and/or cognitive sciences
