Academics

With the number of 850 undergraduates, School of Science is mainly responsible for public basic courses: mathematics and physics on the whole university at present. At the same time, the school offers four major undergraduate programs—Information and Computing Science, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Optical Information Science and Technology, Applied Physics.

School of Science has received the authorization of the first level master’s degree and right of evaluation of professional titles in Physics. It is equipped with research institutions of Theoretical Physics, Model Algorithms, and New Energy Technology and Application. Together with China Academy of Engineering Physics, the school built such laboratory as Laboratory of Material Property Under Extreme Condition. Moreover, the school has Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Physics and Mathematical Experiment Center.　

During the eleventh five-year plan, the school undertook more than 10 (3 national ones) research projects from National Natural Science Foundation and basic applied research project from Provincial Science and Technology Agency. More than 200 papers were published on various renowned journals, and among them 70 can be retrieved in the Three Index. 　

Programme Structure

School of Science dedicates to improve the quality of undergraduate education. Great effort on education quality has been proved to be remarkable. Besides 6 School Level Quality Courses, there are 6 Provincial Excellent Courses, including Advanced Mathematic, College Physics, Fundamental Optics, Photoelectronic Technique, Advanced Algebra and Analytic Geometry.

The Public Mathematic Teaching Team ranks the provincial level, while the teaching teams of Basic Physics and Mathematic Model are the school level teams. Optical Information Science and Technology has applied to the National-level Characteristic Constructional Points successfully. Meanwhile, the school is also in charging of teaching research and reform projects, including more than 30 provincial key programs.
