Overview
The Europhotonics master has been selected by the European Agency in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) 2018 call (see the catalogue of EMJMD programs funded by the European Commission). The partners of the new program are the former ones (AMU Marseille, KIT Karlsruhe, the Universities of Barcelona) plus two additional European Universities (TAU Tampere-Finland, Vilnius University-Lithuania). Five non European Universities are also partners of the program (Shanghai Jiao Tong-China, Rochester-USA, Gondar-Ethiopia, Syndney-Australia, UNAM-Mexico).
Learning outcomes
EUROPHOTONICS - European Master in Photonics Engineering, Nanophotonics and Biophotonics students at Autonomous University of Barcelona benefiting from this program will be able to work on today’s new challenges in their academic or applied research careers: understand and control matter and optical phenomena at the nanometric scale, provide new imaging and monitoring tools for complex biological processes from cells and tissues to clinical applications, bring new and original tools for future optical devices. After being graduated, the Europhotonics students obtain positions in industries, in research laboratories, in universities worldwide.
Programme Structure
Based on this scheme, the students will be able to lead studies in the field of photonics :
- they will have the capacity of analysing a scientific problem and presenting possible solutions in optics and photonics
- they will have the necessary scientific culture to provide answers in interdisciplinary topics linking physics and biology
- they will be able to present scientific results and write scientific proposals
- they will be able to cooperate with industry on applied projects
- they will know the companies’ way of thinking, the problems companies using photonic technologies are facing, and what companies expect from photonic master-graduate persons
- they will know how challenging (and exciting) is research work
