Communication at International Islamic University of Malaysia involves an appreciation of the Western and Islamic heritage behind the current media forms and institutions. It recognizes the importance of modern techniques in effective communication. The Islamic input in teaching enables students to distinguish between the permissible and the prohibited in creative communication activities as well as to evaluate the products and practices of the Western media.
