Overview
The International Energy Science Course (IESC) from Kyoto University teaches students about energy systems from a broad, cross-disciplinary perspective, along with in-depth understanding of their own major. Energy and environmental problems are of utmost importance for our future society. Experts in energy who have both broad perspectives and strong expertise are the key to the solution. We are eager to see that those who study in the IESC contribute to building a sustainable society.
What you'll study
- The overwhelming majority of degrees at Kyoto University have been offered in Japanese as the sole medium of instruction and so was the Master’s program at the Graduate School of Energy Science until recently.
- The IESC is a new offering taught in English by three departments of the GSES, which shall widen the horizon of opportunities for internationally qualified and self-motivated students with non-Japanese education backgrounds. In this course, proficiency in academic Japanese is not required. The International Energy Science Course and other English-taught degree programs have been vitally backed by the university’s initiatives for student mobility and internationalization “K.U.PROFILE” – Kyoto University Programs for Future International Leaders.
