Overview
Key Features
The Communication programme from Hong Kong Baptist University is the longest running taught Master’s programme with the highest student intake in the School of Communication. Together with other programmes in the School, it forms a growing intellectual community whose members share a strong sense of belonging, a commitment to professionalism, and a belief in the values of social responsibility.
The courses emphasize analytical thinking, bridging theory and everyday life, traditional and new media, continuity and change. We nurture a critical way of looking at the world where nothing is taken for granted. We encourage curiosity, respect evidence and keep an open mind about different approaches to scholarship in communication studies.
The Programme also features a variety of practical electives that deal with professional aspects of communication and prepare students for immediate job placement upon graduation. Apart from inviting top-notch practitioners to the classroom, we also take students on site to newsrooms, advertising agencies, government offices, and PR organisations beyond campus and Hong Kong to gain first-hand information and knowledge of the cutting edge of industry development. Students find these experiences exciting, rewarding and highly educational.
The faculty team comprises world renowned scholars and seasoned practitioners. Over the years, we have graduated several thousand students who have built successful careers in media, marketing, management, teaching and research, advertising, public relations, and civil service both locally, in mainland and elsewhere in the world. Our recent graduates also find employment in emerging internet industries as professional content creators and product managers.
