By the end of the Applied Chemistry programme offered by the University of Malta ., you will:
- Gain insight on research and development of originator and generic medicinal product development.
- Possess an overview of the actions and uses of medicinal products in clinical practice and the manufacturing of medicinal products.
- Understand spectrophotometric, spectroscopic, photometric and chromatographic techniques.
- Understand the formulation and processing conditions employed in the manufacture of medicinal products, together with the effects of these parameters on medicinal product safety, quality and efficacy.
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the theoretical perspectives in your chosen area of study.
- Report and discuss the results of your research in a clear, structured and concise form.

- As a holder of the M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry, you will be able to enter a career as an analytical chemist, production chemist, laboratory supervisor, chemical engineering, teacher and researcher.
- The option of enrolling in a doctorate study is available in an institution of your choice if you would like to further your studies, provided you meet the required criteria to do so.

General requirements
Applicants must be in possession of:
- a degree in Science with Chemistry as a main area of study obtained with Second Class (Honours) or better or
- a degree in Pharmacy obtained with Second Class (Honours) or better or
- a degree obtained with Second Class (Honours) or better in an area of study that is deemed relevant by the Board.
- Applicants with a degree in Science with Chemistry as a main area of study obtained with Third Class (Honours) may be admitted if they show evidence of significant experience in work relevant to the area of study of the Course obtained after their first cycle degree.
