Overview
The French - Transcultural Studies programme from Heidelberg University therefore focuses on variants of French language and culture, as well as literary traditions. The degree programme takes an integral perspective to consider the entirety of the world’s francophone territories; from France to francophone parts of Africa, to Québec. During the course of study, an emphasis is placed on literary, cultural and linguistic expressions of francophone culture and transcultural studies which have arisen as a result of transcultural contact phenomena within the francophone area.
In order to embark on the Master’s degree programme, students must have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in a philological or cultural subject. During the degree programme, students will strengthen their French language proficiency and will gain language skills in an additional Romance language.
