Our Higher Education course from Manchester Metropolitan University is for professionals working across all areas, from administration to governance, academic services to human resources.
You will share experiences from your higher education role and learn about others too, gaining a broad perspective of higher education practices and its associated professional identities.During the first two years of the course, you will study core units and choose from a number of option units. These give you the opportunity to explore your particular area of practice - teaching-focused or non-teaching focused - and develop your expertise in higher education practice and research.
In year three, you will complete a dissertation, focusing on a topic of your choice within the field of higher education practices and/or policies.
Career
This course gives you the opportunity to evaluate your professional role and practices in the ever-changing ideological, political, social, regulatory, economic and technological context of higher education.
It is designed to help you pursue a career in higher education management or in academic teaching research and leadership.
As a graduate, you will have also developed a sound basis for pursuing further study such as, for example, undertaking a PhD in educational research/educational studies.

General requirements
Applicants will normally be graduates working in a teaching or professional services support role in higher education, and must also be able to demonstrate the following to the satisfaction of the programme leader:
- A first degree in any subject or alternative educational qualifications that are deemed equivalent
Applicants with a 60 credit masters level higher education teaching qualification (e.g. PGCLTHE or PGC FE/HE) or equivalent will normally be eligible for entry to the MA HE at the PG Diploma stage.
Other applicants will normally be expected to enter the programme at PG Certificate stage.
