Overview
Master of Music programme from The University of Western Australia students are required to present for examination a portfolio consisting of a composition or group of compositions which show(s) advanced technical accomplishment and imaginative resource, and a thesis on a topic related to one or more aspects of the portfolio.
Students are required to present for examination a thesis or a transcription and edition of a substantial body of music to be accompanied by a critical commentary.

- Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor of Music with at least upper second class honours or equivalent.
- An applicant who does not have a Bachelor of Music with at least upper second class honours or whose major field of study has not been music may be required to pass a qualifying examination or undertake preliminary study.
- Applicants for the Master of Music will be required to pass an admission audition and interview (performance) or portfolio review (composition and musicology) for the Conservatorium before lodging an application with the Graduate Research School.
