The MA in global studies is a multidisciplinary programme that explores different aspects of globalisation.

At the conclusion of Global Studies program at University of Iceland, the student shall be able to demonstrate knowledge, ability and skills beyond that achieved at the previous level, as listed below:

• Explain and clarify key concepts and theories in the field of global studies and migration.

• Outline and give examples on main theoretical approaches in the field of global studies.

• Explain and use key methods for research in global studies.

• The student has extensive knowledge and clear understanding of a certain field within global studies and mobility studies.

• Can write and summarize a scientific text in specific areas of globalization studies, and compose main results in a critical way and reach conclusion on contested issues.

• Can initiate and organize research projects in the field of global studies, use accepted methods, and is able to summarize results and discuss them critically.

• Work independently and demonstrate scientific competence in global studies in written and verbal form.

• Can shape research projects and work on them independently.

• Can participate in teams working on interdisciplinary problems.
