Overview
Development Studies from The University of the West Indies is intended to do the following:
- Expose you to recent social, economic and political developments especially in small developing countries
- Facilitate an understanding of the principles and practices of policy formulation, implementation and evaluation
- Equip you to use quantitative and qualitative techniques in decision-making; and equips students with the skills to undertake research in policy analysis.
Students at Development Studies from The University of the West Indies will:
- make a significant contribution to the implementation of a development agenda for small island developing states.
- demonstrate the knowledge and skills fit for key senior management and leadership positions in government, civil society and international organisations, including in development analysis and monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes.
- become positive change agents in their community, work place and country.

General requirements
- A GPA of 2.5 or a Lower Second Class Honours degree or its equivalent. Pass degrees will be considered with relevant work experience
- Interview and satisfactory diagnostic test result
- Two academic references.
- Application Processing Fee (BDS $30 for applicants from contributing countries OR US $30 for applicants from a non-contributing countries)
- Birth Certificate (certified or notarized copy)
- Curriculum Vitae (2 copies)
- Professional Certificates/Diplomas
- Marriage Certificate (where applicable) (certified or notarised copy)
- Legal Affidavit or deed poll if your present name is different from that on the Birth Certificate (certified or notarised copy)
