Overview
Archaeology is the scientific study of past cultures and the way people lived, based on the things they left behind. It is a sub-field of anthropology, the study of all human culture. Archaeology links with many subjects, including geography, history, social sciences, mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, art, religion, and technology.
Objectives
The chief aims of the establishment of the Department of Archaeology at Hazara University Mansehra are:
- To impart quality education both at undergraduate and graduate levels
- To explore the rich archaeological heritage of the country in general and of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in particular
- To contribute to the research repute of the university
- To promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the region.

General requirements
- 16 years of relevant education in the discipline for which the candidate seeks admission. CGPA (2.00/4.0 or 2.50/5.0) in semester system Or 2nd division in MA/MSc or equivalent in the relevant subject in annual system. Candidates having some other qualification will be required to produce equivalency and relevancy certificates from HEC, Islamabad.
- Must have obtained 60% marks in the UGAT or valid GAT-General/GRE with 50% marks.
