Overview
Specifically, the goal of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics program from Sapienza University of Rome is to equip students with the ability to interact with specialists from various engineering fields (computer science, mechanics, electronics, automation) and with experts and users from the many relevant application areas. The latter include all those areas where the representation and use of knowledge, automatic reasoning based on knowledge or sensory information, machine learning, real-time and/or uncertainty-based action planning, the operational autonomy of mechatronic devices, the automation of complex processes, industrial and service robotics, image and video recognition and interpretation, and the reconstruction and simulation of scenes and environments, as well as physical and cognitive user-machine interactions, are relevant.
Features
The course prepares students for the following professions:
- Engineer for intelligent solutions and technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence applications for language and images, video surveillance systems, graphics and animation systems, solutions for monitoring and evaluating the quality of production and services, and systems for managing complexity
- Design engineer for robotic systems and advanced automatic systems, such as robotic systems for industrial or service applications, particularly for use in security, medicine, remote and/or hostile environments, transportation, defense, domestic environments, and to support the activities of people with varying physical and/or cognitive abilities.
- The program structure will enable graduates with a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to acquire, in addition to the professional skills required for this profession, specific expertise in one of the fields of Computer Science and/or Automation Engineering. Completing the program allows students to both deepen their knowledge in their chosen field and hone their communication skills through seminars. To provide adequate experience in developing problem-solving and designing Artificial Intelligence and Robotics systems, the program requires a thesis, which carries 30 credits.
