Overview
The Journalism, Media and Globalisation (Erasmus Mundus) programme at Aarhus University combines social sciences and humanities, merging theoretical and practice-orientated approaches to journalism studies. This cross-disciplinary focus fosters a joint understanding that bridges academic disciplines, journalistic genres, and cultural settings.
During this programme you will study and live in at least two European countries, engaging with peers from around the world in a thriving interdisciplinary and intercultural environment.
In the first year you will study at Aarhus University and the Danish School of Media and Journalism. In the second year of studies, you can customise your studies within one of the following areas:
- Politics and Communication at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands
- Totalitarianism and Transition at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic
- Crisis and Conflict, University of London in the United Kingdom
- Cultures and Contexts at The University of Munich, Germany
Career
Graduates pursue careers as journalists, communication specialists, media advisors, PR consultants, and researchers, working in newsrooms, global organisations, start-ups, non-profits, and academia, with strong networks and mentorship support worldwide.

General requirements
Applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent) in a relevant subject in order to be admitted to the Mundus Journalism programme.
Students who have not yet graduated from their BA-degree can still apply, but documentation of the Bachelor’s degree must be forwarded to Aarhus University by August to complete the enrolment process prior to course start in September.
Subjects within Bachelor's programmes in Arts/Humanities and Social Sciences are by default considered to be relevant. Applicants who have completed other programmes, but whose qualifications are deemed by the Consortium to be relevant and adequate, may also be offered admission.
To ensure that the best candidates are admitted, the Consortium has decided to give priority to academic merit; candidates will only be admitted if they have an above-average Bachelor’s degree
Applicants must have at least three months of journalistic experience
