Overview

The Public Administration (Administration publique) study programme is prepared by Masaryk University in Brno and the University of Rennes in France. Czech and French teachers take turns in teaching, part of the teaching is in English and part in French. The programme is aimed at preparing highly qualified employees in public administration, but its graduates also find employment in the private sector in positions where they use their acquired knowledge and skills.

Within the framework of the study, the student is obliged to complete two internships.

Examples of internships in the Czech Republic: Brno City Municipality, South Moravian Regional Authority, Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, European Centre Brno.

Examples of internships in France: Préfecture d'Ille-et-Vilaine, Université Rennes 1 Service des Affaires Internationales, Chambre Régionale de Commerce et d'Industrie de Bretagne, Nantes Métropole, Maison de l'Europe de Rennes.

The final output of the student and his/her studies in the programme is a diploma thesis, which verifies his/her ability to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the elaboration of a specific topic in the field of public administration, public finance or public policy. Students have the opportunity to choose topics using their experience from internships in Czech and French public administration institutions.

Graduates receive French and Czech university diplomas, giving them the chance to work in interesting positions in many countries. Moreover, discussions with graduates show that double degree participants are more satisfied in their jobs and have slightly higher salaries than graduates who did not go abroad for an internship during their studies.

English Language Proficiency: TOEFL, IELTS, B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency, PTE Academic, Scio English test, Duolingo English Test, IB, or EB. Applicants with previous studies entirely in English in Australia, Canada, EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, UK, or USA are exempt from this requirement.

Demonstrate your academic readiness through one of the following: IB (min. total score 28, min. mathematics score: 4), GED (min. 165 in each section), A Levels (at least 3 subjects with min. grades BBC, must include mathematics), SAT (min. score 1050), AP (at least one mathematics exam with min. score 3), EB (min. overall score 70%, mathematics at min. 5 periods/week), ACT (min. composite score 21), Czech/Slovak maturita(mathematics); OR one of the following Scio exams: GAP (General Academic Prerequisites), or Mathematics.

Masaryk University Scholarships:

Public Administration (Administration publique) students are eligible for a scholarship covering half of the semester tuition fee. The scholarship is awarded automatically each semester to students who meet study requirements and progress within the standard length of study.
