In an era of increasing challenges from rapid changes in the external environment, technology, and society, businesses need to rethink what value they offer and how they create, deliver and capture the values. The MSc Business Transformation will prepare graduates to:

• manage and transform businesses for sustainable development in turbulent times
• identify new markets and fast-track growth for an innovative solution
• pursue careers in which data-driven analytical skills are required to address business problems
• pursue research-related careers or applied business disciplines

Candidates may complete the course to improve their research and analytical skills in analysing and redesigning businesses in preparation for professional consultancy, reinvention of a family business, or a co-founder position in an early-stage business. The course provides a holistic understanding of how the different functions in a business (business modelling, production, process design, sales etc.) can support and work together to bring sustainable business transformation focused on societal needs.

A dedicated induction day is provided for all students, introducing you to your course, teaching teams, and the university facilities. The day ends with an informal social event. Business Transformation is offered at Nottingham Trent University.

Each module will be delivered over four weeks, with most of the teaching delivered in the first weeks as a sprint. Weeks 2 and 3 will provide touch points, and the fourth week will be left clear for assessment work. This enables you to focus on one subject at a time whilst allowing time for preparation and assessment work.

A mixture of lectures, seminars and workshops are used throughout the course to develop your knowledge and understanding, whilst small group tutorials are provided to support your development of both subject knowledge and a range of transferable skills.

The course adopts a pragmatic research approach, arguing that all research methods and techniques, whether quantitative, psychometric, qualitative, or mixed, should be attuned to the business objectives and the nature of the business hypothesis or question to be answered. Offering a balanced appreciation of all methodological approaches, their relative strengths and weaknesses, the course will equip you to conduct research in any business design and operations area.
