What does this master’s programme entail?
Increasingly, the general public wants to be and needs to be informed about scientific topics. At the same time, scientists need to show accountability to the general public about their research. At this Physics and Science Communication and Society MSc programme at Leiden University you bridge the gap between experts and the public by combining high quality research in physics with extensive training in science communication. After completion you have obtained the necessary knowledge and skills to either become science communicator with a strong physics background, or a physics researcher with a communicating mindset.

- The Physics and Science Communication and Society specialisation provides you with at least one full year of research training in Physics, followed by a year of courses, internships and research in the field of science communication.

General requirements
- If you have a bachelor's degree in Physics (Natuurkunde) or a Physics-related programme from a foreign research university with a level similar to Dutch universities, you are eligible to apply.
- Admission is under the provision that you have sufficient in-depth knowledge, and theoretical/mathematical skills on topics like quantum physics, electrodynamics, statistical physics, and complex analysis, equivalent to those of the undergraduate courses of the Leiden BSc Physics curriculum.
