Overview
The Environmental Studies MA delivers a multidisciplinary perspective at the intersection of environmental science, sustainability policy, and environmental governance. Based on Tel Aviv University ’s green campus and embedded in Israel’s dynamic innovation ecosystem, it bridges research, policy, and practice in a region at the forefront of global environmental change.
Three specialization tracks:
- Environmental Entrepreneurship & Management – Focus on sustainable business strategy, innovation, and leadership within the green economy
- Sustainable Development – Address global inequalities through development economics, social innovation, and field-based solutions
- Climate Change Policy – Engage with governance, regulation, and international frameworks shaping climate action at local and global levels
Graduates pursue careers in sustainability consulting, environmental policy, climate change strategy, ESG, and international development.

The curriculum provides a rigorous foundation in sustainability science, global environmental change, environmental management, climate change, environmental economics, biodiversity, and environmental policy, while integrating the legal, political, and behavioral dimensions of environmental decision-making.
Explore the key drivers of global environmental change, including the climate crisis, pollution, and ecosystem degradation, and develop the governance frameworks and strategic tools needed to design scalable solutions.
The structure of the program is one full year.
Students are required to complete 38 credit hours:
- Colloquium: Mandatory participation for two semesters (1 credit).
- Core Courses
- Elective Courses: 12 credits, including track-specific clusters and general electives.
- Seminars: 8 credits, combining theoretical and practical seminars.

General requirements
- A bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.Sc.) in any field from an accredited institution:
- A minimum final grade of 80 (on the Israeli scale) or 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is required. Note: Applicants with a background in Life Sciences, Exact Sciences, Engineering, or Medicine may be considered with a final grade of 75/100 or above.
- Diploma (Graduation Certificate) and Official transcript from each post-secondary school (college or university) you attended.
- Professionally certified English translations of each transcript (where applicable) must be included.
- Personal Statement: A 400–600 word essay describing your interest in the program and studying in Israel.
Letters of Recommendation: Two letters (at least one academic) commenting on your potential for graduate-level success.
Professional CV: A current resume highlighting academic, professional, and volunteer experience.
