Overview
Currently, the Department of Korean Language Education has eight full-time professors with the highest reputations in the fields of Korean language education, Korean language studies, modern literature, and classical literature, and about 200 undergraduate students are studying under them. The department actively operates academic societies such as the True Education Practice Pre-service Teachers' Association, Educational Literature Class, Korean Language Research Class, Modern Literature Class, Classical Literature Class, and Awreum (Pungmul Band). Every November, the Department of Korean Language Education holds an academic festival and publishes a collection of papers containing the results. Students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge through academic field trips in their second year and student teaching practice in their fourth year.
Every year, many graduates pass the teacher certification exam and enter the field of education. On the other hand, they go on to graduate school to earn degrees and become university professors, or they enter the media, broadcasting, publishing, or government agencies to actively participate in society, and they also excel in literary creation and criticism.
The Department of Korean Language Education aims to foster desirable teachers who will lead the 21st century knowledge information society and to foster enterprising talents who will lead creative language and culture, the foundation of knowledge information.
