Overview
Course Details
The curriculum of the Applied Economics and Markets program at University of Bologna includes a first year of course units aimed at strengthening the foundations already acquired in a first-cycle degree programme. Specifically, course units will be taught in the quantitative (mathematical-statistical-informatics), economic, econometric and legal fields.
The second year, on the other hand, is split into two tracks, one focusing on monetary and financial economics, the other on the measurement and modelling of economic phenomena. Each of the two tracks will consist of two core course units in finance and business disciplines and three subjects chosen by the student from a range of possibilities, indicated in the teaching regulations, which will contribute to the training of one of the above-mentioned professionals.
The student will also be given the opportunity to choose additional elective course units and curricular activities, including company internships. The degree programme concludes with the final examination, consisting of the writing and public discussion of a dissertation.
Knowledge of economic phenomena and the laws of markets, the ability to relate macro- and micro-economic phenomena to each other, and to use the categories of interpretation of the analysis inherent to economics, will constitute the graduates' characterising educational background. The degree programme includes a core of core course units that provide a solid education in economics and the acquisition of advanced skills in quantitative methods for economic forecasting and economic-financial analysis. It also includes a series of lectures aimed at investigating more specialised topics in the areas of industrial organisation, financial intermediation, economic policy and environmental economics.
