Overview
The Geography - Geographic Information Systems GIS program at University of Silesia in Katowice is intended for people who want to develop geographical knowledge based on the skills of working in the GIS environment. Currently, all the data we use on a daily basis have a spatial reference - therefore the ability to analyze and work with spatial data is an indispensable range of skills of a modernly educated geographer.
Education in this specialization covers the basics of working in typical GIS software, as well as free tools such as OpenSource, teaches the use of databases, mobile geoinformation systems (GPS, GPRS, etc.) and shows the wide possibilities of working in the network (WebGIS), as well as applications of geomorphometry and digital remote sensing in environmental research.

- Based on the qualification procedure, people who have a diploma with a bachelor's degree, engineer's degree, master's degree or equivalent (i.e. recognized with a Polish diploma in the case of completing studies abroad), obtained in the field of geography or related disciplines, will be admitted to the studies, within the limit of places, within the limit of places.
- Qualification criterion: qualification for studies is determined by the place on the ranking list, created on the basis of the sum of: grades on the diploma and average grades from studies.
