Overview

The VLSI Design programme aims at Manipal Academy of Higher Education is imparting the knowledge and enhancing the skill sets required to work in the rapidly growing "Electronic Design Automation" (EDA) and VLSI Design industries. Students are taught how to use industry standard EDA tools such as Cadence, XILINX, MENTOR GRAPHICS, and Altera to design, verify, and test efficient integrated circuits that meet specified design constraints and specifications. The program is supported by Infineon, ARM, and MIRAFRA Technologies.

Key facts

Adequate knowledge is given to design and develop both digital and analog ICs that are optimized for low power. Students are introduced to data structures, efficient algorithms, and various CAD methods in the development and enhancement of EDA tools. This makes them equally competent for both the VLSI design and EDA industries. Extensive training is also provided in VLSI design verification to enable the students to easily enter the ample verification job market. Interested students can also do research.
