Overview
At the Clinical Optometry program offered by Oulu University of Applied Sciences will deepen your skills in multi-disciplinary, broadly responsible clinical expertise, research-based work-life development and project and innovation work in the health sector. You will increase your competence in monitoring the development of research and professional practice and strengthen your capacity for lifelong learning while developing your professional skills as well as assessing and marketing your competences.
Employment after graduating
After graduation, you will be able to work in a variety of health professional roles as a coordinator or leader of multidisciplinary teams, working with other health professionals to develop evidence-based practice and introduce new approaches. You can also work as a consultant, as an independent practice manager in healthcare organisations or as an entrepreneur.

General requirements
- Applicants must have completed Optician’s diploma degree, Optometrist’s bachelor’s degree or higher, Finnish vocational-level optician degree, international Optometrist’s diploma degree or Optician’s diploma degree.
- Applicants must also have an education that allows them to use diagnostic pharmaceutical medications as well as license to fit contact lenses. International applicants who do not have the education that provides them the rights to use the diagnostic pharmaceuticals in their home country are eligible but their competence is evaluated in the beginning of studies. If needed, mandatory supplementary studies are offered.
- Applicants should convert part-time work into full-time equivalents such that 150 hours or 20 working days lasting at least 7 hours per day correspond to one month of work. Work experience does not have to be continuous or obtained working for the same employer.
