Overview

Environmental Engineering is a branch of engineering that produces technical and scientific solutions for the protection and development of the environment. Engineers in this field work on issues such as preventing and controlling air, water and soil pollution, waste management and recycling, water and wastewater treatment, creating and implementing environmental policies, and developing sustainable energy solutions. Environmental Engineering is based on technical knowledge and skills to protect the health of people and ecosystems and improve environmental quality.

The vision of the Environmental Engineering program at Izmir Institute of Technology is to be a pioneer in science and technology, unique in education, student-centered and offering practical learning opportunities, educating qualified engineers and researchers who can produce the most appropriate solutions in economic, cultural and geographical terms by addressing problems with a holistic approach, and to be a leading department in the region with international influence.
