With a strong theoretical grounding coupled with the practical experience developed on your placements, you will have the necessary expertise to meet the Nursing & Midwifery Council's high standards of care as a specialist nurse.
There will be the opportunity to explore concepts of health behaviours and promotion in the public health arena, and you will also consider how to effectively meet the wellbeing needs of individuals, groups and wider communities.
By exploring leadership and management in clinical practice, you will examine the challenges of delivering health and social care services in the current climate especially in relation to professional school nursing.
Career
On successful completion of the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing - School Nursing from Leeds Beckett University, you will be able to apply for the third part of the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) register as a specialist school nurse. - Applicants should have NMC first level registration (previously known as UKCC parts 1, 2, 7 or 12), at least a second class honours degree in the cognate subject of Health and be able to evidence recent professional development.
- We may use selection criteria based on your personal attributes; experience and/or commitment to the area of study. This information will be derived from your personal statement and reference and will only be used if you have met the general entry requirements.
- Satisfactory enhanced criminal history checks will be required by all applicants prior to acceptance on the course. The University is unable to accept DBS checks obtained through another institution; the checks undertaken by the University are appropriate to the course of study and relevant regulated activity placements.
