Overview
You spend one year studying at Maastricht University in the Netherlands and one year at the University of Cologne and will graduate with two master’s degrees: a Master of Science in European Studies from Maastricht University and a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Cologne. The programme is integrated into these degree programmes and incorporates courses from both. It is based on recognition of credit points and includes a master's thesis, which you will write during your second year of studies.

The international Double Master's Programme in European Studies from University of Cologne is an ambitious, research-based and interdisciplinary programme. You develop an in-depth understanding of the institutions of the European Union and the challenges of politics and policies in an integrated Europe. The programme aims to teach you to apply quantitative and qualitative method skills, enabling you to operate at an advanced level in an international research environment.

- Bachelor degree with at least 36 ECTS credits in Political Science and at least 9 ECTS credits Methodology and Empirical Social Research. | If you have not finished your bachelor studies but have passed at least 80% of the examinations (at least 144 credits in a bachelor degree carrying 180 ECTS credits), you can apply by submitting a confirmation of all credits earned so far, along with a provisional average grade computed and certified by your examination office.
- Overall grade equivalent to at least 2.7 (German grading system) in the bachelor's degree
- Transcript of records (stamped and signed)
- School leaving certificate | A-levels/ High school diploma
- Official description of the content of all taken bachelor courses | e.g. course catalogue or PDF-file with link to course description at the website of the University)
- Proof of English language proficiency
