You gain a holistic view of production by combining the development of production systems with their role in the entire product development process – from design and industrialization to start-up, quality and cost-effectiveness. You study advanced courses in production development, manufacturing processes, automation, robotics, AI/ML and industrial digitalization, combined with systems thinking and sustainability. The Production Engineering and Automation programme from Jönköping University has a strong focus on problem solving, data analysis and interdisciplinary collaboration, which prepares you to lead development projects in international and high-tech environments.

Programme Structure

Courses:

During the first year, you will build solid knowledge in advanced production systems, automation and digital technologies.

In the second year, you will continue to combine theory and practice through advanced projects, often in collaboration with industry partners. There is a strong focus on machine learning and AI, focusing on how data-driven methods can optimize production, improve predictive maintenance, and enable intelligent decision-making processes in production systems.

A degree of 180 credits with at least 90 credits in the main field of mechanical engineering, product development, materials technology, manufacturing technology, production technology, industrial economics, construction technology, industrial organization or equivalent Swedish or foreign education. In addition, 15 credits in mathematics and knowledge of English 6 or English level 2, or equivalent, are required.
