Overview
This track provides broad training in the theory and history of international and European law, rather than narrow specialization in one specific area. You will develop vital academic skills such as close reading, critical thought and historical-comparative insight that prepare you for research, policy work, and advanced practice.
You will engage with theoretical questions such as 'where does international law derive its authority from?', or 'How might it enable as well as minimize violence?'.
You will explore international and European law topics from a range of theoretical lenses, including realism, constructivism, Marxism, critical legal studies and Third World Approaches to International Law equipping you to interpret legal issues from diverse, cutting-edge perspectives.
- Join a vibrant, prestigious research community that tracks cutting-edge theoretical and historical developments in the field.
- Gain a comprehensive, historically and theoretically grounded understanding of international and European law to interpret contemporary legal issues with precision and critical insight.
- Work with concrete case studies to ground the theory and put law concepts into practical context.
