The department is committed to training the next generation of scientist’s by offering both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Sciences, as well as the training of future physician scientists.

The Department embraces excellence in innovative research and education while serving as a focal point for drawing together and integrating basic and translational research conducted across American University of Beirut. Our faculty are engaged in diverse areas of research aimed at elucidating the mechanisms of human diseases that include inflammation, fibrotic and metabolic disorders, vascular and renal complications of diabetes, congenital heart disease, cancer, traumatic brain injury and bioinformatic analyses of complex diseases. The diverse nature of our research interests enriches our academic and educational environment and provides a broad spectrum of research opportunities available to graduate students.
