This interdisciplinary programme prepares you to assess, develop, and sustain cultural and natural heritage across diverse contexts. You will engage with critical heritage theory, ethics, and real-world practices through coursework, collaborative projects, and have the opportunity to undertake field work.

Based on learnings from the fields of archaeology, anthropology, geography, museology, and more, the programme enables you to address heritage as both a cultural resource and a field of global significance.

The teaching is closely tied to the internationally recognised Moesgaard Museum, offering hands-on experience and a vibrant academic environment. Whether you're interested in museum work, policy development, or heritage consultancy, this Sustainable Heritage Management programme at Aarhus University allows you to specialise whilst gaining a strong foundation in sustainability, stakeholder engagement, and heritage management.

Career

Graduates of Sustainable Heritage Management are qualified for roles in museums, archives, cultural institutions, heritage consultancies, planning and development agencies, NGOs, and government. Some pursue PhDs or work internationally.
