Overview

You will learn advanced techniques for clinical psychological assessment, case conceptualisation, and implementation and evaluation of interventions. You will engage in evidence-based ethical professional practice, with substantial practical training integrated into your degree. You'll undertake 750 hours of psychological practice, supervised by highly trained and accredited clinical psychologist supervisors to enhance your knowledge, skills, and attributes for working in clinical psychology.

Career

You will be prepared for work in government organisations such as Queensland Health and in child and youth mental health services, education services, corrections, health psychology as well as non-government agencies, private hospitals and general practitioner practices. In addition, the Clinical Psychology Practice programme from Griffith University prepares graduates for entering private practice.

You may seek to further your qualifications by enrolling in a higher degree by research to follow a research-related career path.

Academic Achievement/Intellectual Ability: Applicants must have completed a program in Psychology extending over four years and accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). Applicants must have attained a minimum entrance requirement of a Lower Second Class Honours (2B) psychology degree or equivalent at the commencement of the program. In addition, applicants are required to have held general registration as a psychologist in Australia for a minimum of 12 months or have completed an APAC accredited coursework program that meets Level 3 competencies in psychology (e.g., Master of Professional Psychology or Master of Psychological Practice in an area other than clinical psychology). The Grade Point Average in the fourth year and relevant postgraduate courses will be considered.
